McCurdy is a manufacturer of professional broadcast equipment. If the platter shaft has a spiral groove cut into it, it was probably made by Rek-O-Kut. McCurdy sometimes used the technology of other companies, making versions adapted for rugged professional use.
I recognize your motor. It is a patented synchronous type made in Germany by Papst. This considered the ultimate high-performance audiophile turntable motor at one time. Different versions of it were made with different shaft ends for use in different turntable designs. I had one in a Miracord changer. It was used in the ROK L33H (belt drive) and the ROK B12GH (idler drive). I feel that it's a fine motor, but a little "fluttery." This flutter is mainly acoustical, and not fed into the music. _________________ Richard Steinfeld Author of The Handbook for Stanton and Pickering Cartridges and Styli
